together with her husband John Smith built the first house in Nowra, NSW. Later they lived in a big 2 storey house with servants, 2 croquet lawns, 2 tennis courts etc called "Violet Banks". This was pulled down and is now the Nowra RSL club in Junction Street. (oral history from my grandmother, who also lived in the house with her parents in Jane Eliza Smith's later years) Jane Street (the bridge over the highway to the shopping centre is named after her. The shopping centre is the site of land they owned previously.
