N.B. There are two John Smith's on this voyage of the 'Mangles' 1835. This John is identifier no. 2. Native Place: Worcester. Wife Sophia at Hampton & 6 children. Stated he had lived and worked for Lord Calthorpe for 25yrs. Can read; Protestant; groom & coachman; age 38 upon arrival; 5'4 1/2"; hazel eyes; dk brown hair. Letter from Master Lord Calthorpe. 1835 & 1837 Musters in Van Diemen's Land - he was assigned at Government House, Hobart.

John arrived 1/8/1835 . he left a wife and 6 children in England. He got his ticket of leave 1/3/1844 and a conditional pardon 29/8/48 I don not know what happened to him after that.
