Family connections for John (Smith) are: SMITH John (Smith) was born about 1799. He was tried for horse stealing at Durham Session of Oyer, Terminer and Gaol Delivery on 10 8 1816, sentenced to 7years, held on hulk PRUDENTIA RETRIBUTION or JUSTITIA at Woolwich at Sheerness River Medway Kent from 18 9 1816, & arrived in NSW as a convict on 24 4 1817 after a voyage of 4months on SHIPLEY; he was Protestant. He had a second relationship with Elizabeth (Mansfield/Burns-nee Sandall according to this Website, her second relationship) & married her on 29 11 1822 at Castlereagh according to this Website, but not shown in Smees records-in fact Smees records show the children born to defacto parents. He was recorded in 1828 with his family as a farmer at Wallis Plains, He was Free by Servitude by 1832 & recorded in 1832 as settler. He died about 1846 age about47. [Some details taken from this Website] Elizabeth (Mansfield) was born on 24 1 1805 & baptised on 31 5 1810 age5 w/halfsibs Mary & William Richard at St Johns CofE Parramatta. She (recorded as Elizabeth (Sandall) in Smees records) married firstly at age15 Thomas (Byrne/Burns) labourer on 31 1 1820 at St Phillips CofE Sydney & produced 10 children. She was recorded in 1828 with her family at Wallis Plains. She produced perhaps 11children in her lifetime. In the colony, John married Elizabeth Burn (nèe Sandall). The couple married 29th November 1822 at Castlereagh. Elizabeth was a widow, having been married to one Thomas Burn, in 1820, however, Thomas died soon thereafter. (There are several possibilities to the identity of Thomas Burn) Elizabeth was the daughter of Thomas Mansfield (Convict, 1791, "Matilda") and Ann Sandall (Convict, 1801, "Nile"). She had one small child, Mary Ann Burn born 1821, when she married John. The couple had 10 children between 1824 and 1825.
