Only one female prisoner arrived on the William. Maria Smith was tried at Middlesex on 4th July 1792 and received a sentence of transportation for life for stealing on the 27th April. Maria stole six yards of muslin valued at 12s and a half yard of other muslin valued at 12s. and a pair of worsted stockings valued at 16d.
