The Convict Indentures state that Mary Smith was 36 years old. Mary could read; religion Presbyterian; status married with five sons and one daughter. She was native of County Down. Margaret was convicted of stealing a bonnet at Armagh in June 1838 and sentenced to 7 years. She had no prior convictions. Physical attributes: Height 5 feet 5 1/4 inches; complexion dark ruddy and much freckled; hair dark brown mixed with grey and eyes dark grey. Transport number 8 and prisoner number 8-39 Received Certificate of Freedom in 1845 (No. 45/1357)
