Samuel Smith was born at Worcester C1796, the son of Samuel and Mary Smith - he was 5/9 1/2" tall, dark brown hair, hazel eyes, scar on right cheek, several scars on his arms. Brother James was also on board, he was five years younger than Samuel and was convicted on a different charge. Samuel was married - wife at Maidstone - After seven years Samuel’s previous marriage was automatically annulled. C1827: Was working in a blacksmith's shop, making nails. 1830-33 Musters: Public Works 1835 Muster: TOL 16/9/1835: Married Mary Ann (Raffell) Payne, widow of John Payne, (they had 3 children) then Mary Ann and Samuel had 5 children. 17/2/1838: CP Samuel worked as a Blacksmith. a labourer and a cutler during the next years. 23/2/1879: Samuel Smith, a Locksmith, died aged over 80 of erysipelas, and infectious disease. 17/8/1880: Mary Ann Raffell/Payne/Smith died of "cancer of the tongue" the next year, aged seventy.
