(The ship also made voyages to Australia, in 1837, 1839 & 1845 with free immigrants.)

Gaol Calendar. ...Thomas Smith and Thomas Good, indicted for entering the dwelling house Thomas Goldsmith, the day time, no person being therein, and stealing sundry articles wearing apparel other articles value 4£. 7s. his property, at Marden.—Death recorded. ... Kentish Weekly Post, 8 Jan 1828 Moore, Fanny, committed for want of Sureties as necessary witness to give evidence against Thomas Smith and Thomas Good— Discharged by Proclamation. Maidstone Journal, 15 Jan 1828. The undermentioned 17 Convicts were on Friday last removed from the County Gaol, Maidstone, and put on board the Retribution Hulk, at Sheerness-—Bernard Daly, Thomas Smith, Thomas Good, Charles Jones, Benjamin White, Thomas Smith, James Brown, Flower Howell, Thomas Dean, Edward Williams alias Louis Joseph Francois, James Harris Thomas Cooper, Stephen Nash, Cornelius Brewer, Richard Climson, James Wells, and James Austen —Transported for Life. Kent Herald, 28 Feb 1828. NOTE; there were 2 men named Thomas Smith , both convicted at Kent, both with Life sentences, both sent to the hulk Retribution together. The Hulk records clarify which one was transported on which ship.
