William Smith was convicted at York on 02/03/1833 for manslaughter. Struck a man named Henry Whiley. Working together we had a quarrel about some tools which he came to borrow and which my Master told me not to lend him. 7yr sentence. Gaol Report: bad Hulk Report: orderly Single man Van Diemens Land: Port Arthur penal settlement. Died at H.M. Colonial Hospital, Port Arthur 11/10/1835. Buried same day.
