Conduct record TAHO https://libraries.tas.gov.au/Digital/CON31-1-39/CON31-1-39P238 23 Sept 1839 - married Sarah Dalton (born in VDL) at Trinity Church, Hobart RGD37/1/1 no 58 1840 - free certificate 14 oct 1840 - wife Sarah married William Nicholls (per England) at St George's Church, Hobart 2 Mar 1841 - had wife Sarah charged with bigamy, she makes a guilty plea and is sentenced to 7 years transportation. This is the first time a bigamy case is tried in VDL.
