Margaret was transported on the "Experiment" and arrived in the colony; June 24th 1804. In the colony, Margaret had a de facto relationship with John Parkes (Convict, Barwell, 1798). This long lasting relationship commenced around 1806. The couple had 12 children between 1807 and 1827. This family included William “Fighting Bill” Parkes born 1816 and a famous athlete for the period.
