Edward Speed arrived in Van Diemens Land on the 'Campbell Macquarie' 01/01/1820. The Archive record does not state where the ship sailed from or if indeed it was a convict ship. There are only 2 passengers listed who embarked at VDL (perhaps it had unloaded at another state?). Edward was tried and convicted at Hobarton (Hobart), Van Diemens Land (Tasmania) on 04/12/1833 of horse stealing. 7 yr sentence. Convict no. 66742. Single man. No native place of birth given. 20/10/1835: Disobedience of orders & insolence - 12mths hard labour in ###Hulk Chain Gang recommended. 12mths Grass Tree Hill Chain Gang - decision 30/10/1835. Died in H.M. Colonial Hopsital 18/04/1836. Buried 21/04/1836.
