She left London on the 26th December, and went to Kingston, when she took on board her prisoners, and left on the 24th January. There have been four deaths on board and three births, one infant still born. She did not touch any where and spoke no vessels for this place. Hobart Town Advertiser, 19 May 1848.

(Previous offences) Sent to Van Diemen's Land (Tasmania, Australia) per the ship 'John Calvin' arriving 18 May 1848. Married woman, husband - John Xxxxxx (? Kilrush) House servant; aged 30 yrs; 5'1 1/2"; dark complexion; black hair; Hazel eyes. Native place of birth: Tipperary, Ireland. VDL: 6 mths Probation Period. Station Gang: 'Anson Hulk', Hobart. Assigned to work services. 6 May 1851: Ticket of Leave granted. Application for permission to Marry, 1851: to Philip STAFFORD per 'David Malcolm'. Approved. Marriage: 30 June 1851 at St. John the Baptist, Church of England, Hobart. To Philip Stafford. Note: Margaret's name is recorded as "Spelling". Ref. Archives Marriage record & also recorded on her Convict Conduct Sheet.
