Document dated 10 Dec 1823, Court House, Windsor, signed by John Cross, Chaplain, and Wm. Cox, Magistrate We hereby certify, that Joseph Spencer who came by the ship Baring, which arrived in the year 1815, has not been convicted of any crime or misdemeanor in this Colony; but is, to our certain belief, an honest, sober and industrious character; having served faithfully Nicholas Bailey, Esquire, of the district of the South Creek, from 9 September 1815 to January 1816, and from January 1816 was assigned to his wife who has since died. Added note: Says his wife died last April, that he gave his wife’s Certificate in the name of Hannah Heddy to Mr Cox last muster. Additional note: Stafford Assizes, 30 July 1814, Life.
