GLASGOW SPRING CIRCUIT COURT - 20 APRIL 1847 JOHN SPIERS and JAMES McGREGOR, alias JAMES JACK, were severally accused of theft of two umbrellas from a shop in or near Trongate, Glasgow, on the evening of 2nd November, 1846, also of theft and previos conviction of theft. The prisoners pleaded not guilty, but after trial, were convicted and sentenced - SPIERS to 10 years' and McGREGOR to 7 years' transportation.
