Margaret Sponsforth was convicted of stealing a sovereign - obtaining money under false pretence. 3rd conviction. 7yr sentence. Transported to Van Diemens Land on the 'Cadet' arriving 1849. Child Alice aged 12 also onboard. Father: George Brother: George Sisters: Ann, Ellen, Mary, Betsey, Jane & Bessy Stated father of child was Frank Lester. Child admitted to Queens Orphanage. Alice was discharged on 22/01/1852 to A. Bisdee Esq at Jericho, VDL. Aged 35yrs; Protestant; 1 child (onboard); housemaid/laundress/cook; Native Place - Sunderland, England; 5'3"; fair complexion; sandy hair; blue eyes. several records of misconduct, time at the House of Correction, Hobart. Delivered of a female child, Jane, 18/11/1850 at the Female Factory, Hobart. Baptised 21/11/1850 at Cascades. 13/07/1852: Ticket of Leave 22/03/1853: Ticket of Leave revoked 18/07/1854: Ticket of Leave restored 26/06/1855: Free by servitude & Cert. of Freedom
