The North Australian, Ipswich and General Advertiser (Ipswich, Qld. : 1856 - 1862) Tue 28 Sep 1858 Page 3 On Tuesday last, James Richard Spurway, in the employ of Andrew Watt, carrier, while driving a bullock-team on the War-wick road, near Mr. Wilson's station, stumbled and fell before the dray, and before he could recover him-self the wheel passed over him crushing his left leg and side. His dray being about a quarter of a mile in advance of Watt's, he lay on the road until the latter came up, who removed him to the side of the road. The poor sufferer was quite sensible, but in great pain, and explained how the accident occurred. Constable Connolly having heard of the accident procured a dray from Mr. Wilson 's station and Spurway was placed in it to be brought down to Ipswich, but he expired about three miles from the scene of the accident about three hours after its occurrence. Dr. Lucas, who examined the body, deposed that the shock sustained from the wheel passing over the body of the deceased was sufficient to cause death.
