3 April 1835: admitted to first class on Norfolk Island (NSW Archives 4/2244.1)




Sentence of Death recorded. Wm. Clayton, for stealing a horse, the property Thos. ? at Wilden. Robert Garner, for stealing sheep, the property of Richard Cox, Cranfield. Joseph Redman, James Redman, & John Hosier, for a burglary in the dwelling house of George ?, Wilshamstead and Stanley & Stanley, for sheep-stealing. Northampton Mercury, 18 March 1826. Bedfordshire Assizes. Seven prisoners were capitally convicted and sentence of death recorded against them, viz. William Clayton (aged for cart horse at Wilden ; Robert Garner Stealing one sheep at Cranfield ; Joseph Redman (26) James Redman (20) and John Hosier for burglariously stealing liquor and other articles at Wilstead; Wm. Stanley for stealing two sheep and Robert Stanley (21) for a similar offence. Cambridge Chronicle, 17 March 1826. ————————————————————————- Wm. Stanley, Robert Stanley, John Hosier, Wm. Clayton, and James Redman, capital convicts from the last Bedford Assizes were removed last week on board the Justitia Hulk, at Woolwich, preparatory to transportation for life.
