Family connections for James (Stewart) may be: STEWART James (Stewart)-who may have been Johns father or relative-arrived in NSW on 9 7 1791 after a journey of 6.5months perhaps on Fleet ACTIVE ALBERMARLE ATLANYIC BARRINGTON BRITANNIA MARY ANN MATILDA SALAMANDER WILLIAM AND ANN-perhaps on MATILDA. He was tried at probably Old Bailey, sentenced to 7years & held at Middlesex Gaol Delivery. These details taken from this Website] Suggestions are found that a child arrived with him: John (Stewart) arrived in NSW as a child on 9 7 1791 after a journey of 6.5months on Fleet ship MATILDA. He married Lydia (Bates) on 1 3 1825 at St Phillips CofE Sydney.-Smees records do suggest he married in England. He was recorded in 1826, 1828 & 1830 as a shoemaker. Noted a John (Stewart) is recorded as dying on 17 3 1830 at Newcastle after suffering a possible fit. his remains being found in the bush; he was buried at Christ Church Newcastle. Lydia (Bates) was born on 9 5 1806 in Sydney & baptised on 25 12 1806 at St Phillips CofE Sydney. She died in 1867 age about61. John (Stewart) & Lydia/Letitia (Bates) produced 5children: 1.James (Stewart) was born on 19 9 1820 & baptised on 1 10 1820 at St Phillips CofE Sydney. 2.Mary Ann (Stewart) was born on 20 5 1823 & baptised on 29 6 1823 at St Phillips CofE Sydney 3.Mary Ann (Stewart) was born on 7 2 1826 in Sydney & baptised on 12 3 1826 at St Phillips CofE Sydney. 4.John Thomas (Stewart) was born on 8 4 1828 in Sydney & baptised on 4 5 1828 at St Phillips CofE Sydney. 5.James Enoch (Stewart) was born on 11 7 1830 in Sydney & baptised on 8 8 1830 at St Phillips CofE Sydney.
