The crime committed by Elizabeth Stokes in 1802 was she stole some calico (fabric) from a shop, where she received 7 years. She arrived in NSW on the ship "Glatton" with her 5 year daughter Ann Stokes, in the year 1802. Elizabeth and young Ann where then sent to Norfolk Island. Elizabeth married fellow convict Joseph Genders (arr. 3rd Fleet) the marrage was 28th June 1803 in Church of England, Norfolk Island. Later the population of Norfolk Island were moved to Hobart-on 03/09/1808 Genders/Stokes family left Norfolk on the "City of Edinburgh" for Hobart. ELIZABETH STOKES..was born 1780 in Warwickshire ENGLAND Her parents were Father..Humphrey Lynch b. C1763/1765 Mother..Ann Stokes b. C 5 April 1747 Ashow,WAR, ENGLAND Elizabeth's daughter..Ann was born 1797 ENGLAND ...ELIZABETH STOKES died at Kangaroo Point Tasmania in 10/09/1835, aged 55, a free woman and farmes's wife. ....Elizabeth's daughter ANN married William SMEDLEY b 1805 Nottingham ENGLAND marrage was in 1838 in Clarence Plains, Hobart TASMANIA.
