Born 1830 Shepton Mallet Somerset England Marriage Cert 2427/1865 Katherine McDonnell Maitland NSW Death Cert 4133/1906 Annandale Henry Stokes 6 years for larceny Central Criminal Court UK age 32 on 7th April 1862. Ship "Dalhousie" - arrived in WA on 28 Dec 1863 This 912 ton ship was built at Sunderland in 1847. It was employed as a convict transport for Western Australia and left Portland, England on September 25, 1863 bound for the Swan River Colony. She carried the twenty ninth of 37 shipments of male convicts destined for Western Australia. The voyage took 90 days and the Lord Dalhousie arrived in Fremantle on December 28, 1863 with 89 passengers and 270 convicts. George Harvey and Mr. Fasken were the captain and surgeon respectively. There were no deaths recorded on the convict shipping and description Stokes Henry # 7534 Occupation rope maker, Married with four kids, 5' 4 1/2" Tall, brown hair, grey eyes, oval face, sallow complexion, middling stout, Mole left neck, scar left temple.
