Re employment as shoemaker To His Excellency, Sir Thomas Brisbane, Governor. Colonial Secretary Office, 8 Jan 1825. Sir, the information which you require with respect to Samuel Stone, the subject of the enclosed letter from his Father, I have the honor to furnish by acquainting Your Excellency, that he arrived in this Colony on board the Ship Shipley and is at present employed in Sydney by Government as a shoemaker. Jas. Crow, charged with breaking Into the house of Arthur Roberts, of Oldland, and stealing a silver watch and 2... notes and divers coin; and Samuel Stone alias Rogers, and Wm. Skull, charged with receivlng the said watch, notes, knowing the same to have been stolen Bath Chronicle, 25 July 1816. At Gloucester Assizes, which commenced on Monday, the following prisoners have been found guilty ; … James Crow, for breaking open and robbing the house of Arthur Roberts, at Oldland, in the parish of Bitton ; Samuel Stone, alias Rogers, and William Skull, for receiving sundry articles from Roberts, knowing them to be stolen; Oxford University and City Herald, 24 Aug 1816. Samuel Stone alias Rogers and William Skull for receiving silver watch, knowing been stolen from the dwelling house of A. Roberts, 14 years transportation Bath Journal, 26 Aug 1816.
