In the colony, Thomas clearly was in a relationship with Mary Curran (et al) (Irish Convict, 1793, "Boddingtons"). They have 3 children mentioned in the 1805/6 muster. It has been indicated that this was Mary Kearns (Irish Convict, 1793, "Sugar Cane"), but I believe this is not so. Mary Kearns can be located elsewhere in the musters and was with William Chalker. Subsequently Thomas married Mary Hardy (Convict, 1809, "Indispensible") it would appear from the 1814 muster that they also had a child but both Mary and Thomas died in 1821.
It would seem that Thomas was apprenticed as a blacksmith, probably in Kingston, Surrey. He certainly traded as a smith whilst in the colony.
