Crime: Horse stealing. Initial sentence: Transportation for life. Gaoler's report: 'Character etc not known'. Annotated (Outcome): 'Nil'. Petitioner(s): 40 inhabitants of Rochdale [Lancaster] known to the convict. Grounds for clemency (Petition Details): Previous good character; first offence; distressed family. Other papers: Letter from John Bell (one of the petitioners) transmitting the petition to the Home Department.
