On Thursday arrived from Calcutta, via Derwent, the ship Mary, Captain Ormon, with a various cargo. -Passengers from Calcutta, Captain Faithfull and Lieutenant Hamilton:-The Mary sailed from Calcutta the 23d of February, and left the Pilot the 1st of March. Sydney Gazette, Sat 7 Jun 1817. -------------------------------------------------- Convicts who sailed on the 'Mary' direct from Ireland - 1819 & 1836 - are currently being listed, incomplete data to date.

Per "Mary" 1822 Feb 16: Thomas Walker permitted to take Stratford, his servant, to Van Diemen's Land (Reel 6008; 4/3504A p.443) 1/1/1822: Arrived VDL per 'Nereus'. William was 4'11¾" tall, brown hair, grey eyes. 1830 Muster: Assigned to T. Barclay Esq. 1832 Muster: Colonial conviction, Launceston QS 10/9/1832. 11/9/1832 Launceston Advertiser: William Stratford, convicted of stealing one gun, value £2, the property of Edward Austen - sentenced to be trtansported for 7 years. 1832 Muster: Public Works 1833 Muster: Public Works 1835 Muster: Assigned to Mr. Jn. Easton. 1838: TOL - Felony - Committed for trial - William Stratford was indicted for maliciously maiming a cow the property of George Pyle. Verdict— Not Guilty. 29/4/1843: CP 16/2/1852: There is a death listed for William Stratford, aged 66, died at Launceston.
