National Records of Scotland Title Trial papers relating to Catherine Short for the crime of theft and previous conviction. Tried at High Court, Perth Dates 1 May 1849 Accused Catherine Short, wife of Archibald Short, seaman, m.s. Struth, Verdict: Guilty, Verdict Comments: Guilty in terms of own confession - first, second and fifth charges, Sentence: Transportation - 7 years. Catherine Short, wife of Archibald Short, seaman, m.s. Struth, Age: 40, Address: Residing with husband, Kincardine. Catherine was listed as 41 years old on arrival. Brothers: George, William - sailors. 30/1/1830: Married Archibald Short, a sailor, at Tulliallan, Perthshire. Children: 6/8/1838: Mary Short - left behind in Scotland. Catherine, was literate, protestant, 4'10" tall, dark brown hair, hazel eyes. 9/11/1852: TOL 1/7/1856: Free Certificate. 9/2/1857: Married William Hinsby at Kingston, TAS. He was 61, a widower, sawyer; she was 45 a spinster. William died of senility at the General Hospital, Hobart on 27/12/1890.
