He was tried at Durham on 27 7 1790, sentenced to 7years & arrived in NSW as a convict on 9 7 1791 after a voyage of 6months on Fleet ship ALBERMARLE. She was living at Wilberforce when she married at age15 Edward (Cross) of Pitt Town on 28 1 1821 at St Matthews CofE Windsor & produced 4children. ....Edward (Cross) was born on 6 5 1799. He was recorded in 1821 at Pitt Town. He was recorded in 1824, 1826 & 1827 as a farmer. He was recorded in 1824 as a farmer. It may be he who is recorded in 1828 as living with his family near his father at Wilberforce. He was recorded in 1829 as a farmer. In 1831 he was granted 50acres at Little Cattai Creek/Wheeny farm-his father & brother Christopher also. Tried and convicted in Durham on 27th July 1790, sentenced to transportation for 7 years. Left England on 27th March 1791. Ship:- the 'Ablermarle' sailed with 282 male convicts on board of which 32 died during the voyage, (2 of these deaths were due to executions). Arrived on 13th October 1791. Commenced a relationship with convict Mary Ann Boyle ('Glatton' 1803). They had two children, Margaret 1806 and Thomas 1809. The couple did not formalize the relationship with marriage until 1815, when they married at Windsor. In the 1814 muster Joseph was a landholder with 30 acres at Wilberforce. By 1828 he had 90 acres, cleared 30 acres, cultivated 20 acres, owned 8 horses and 13 head of cattle. Joseph died on 4th August 1831 in the Hawkesbury district of New South Wales age 62. Mary Ann died in 1835 at Windsor age 56.

The daughter Margaret was married to Edward Cross and was cited elsewhere in the census with her husband and three children.




Joseph married Mary Ann Boyle (Convict, Glatton, 1803). They were in a relationship soon after she arrived in the colony and had two children Margaret 1806 and Thomas 1809. They eventually married in 1815 at Windsor.




Joseph Stubbs, alias Stobbs was convicted at Durham, 27 July 1790 and sentenced to transportation for 7 years. He was transported on the Third Fleet, aboard "Albermarle". He is listed in the online database Australian Convict Ships, Third Fleet, 1791 [Ref #1620]
