Francis Suckling was transported on the Ocean, departing 31st Jul 1815 and arriving 30th Jan 1816 with 221 passengers.
The 'Ocean' was an English merchant ship and whaler built in 1794 at South Shields, England. In 1803 she accompanied the ship 'Calcutta' to Australia, acting as a transport supply ship. When the settlers abondoned Port Phillip, Melbourne, Victoria the ship transferred convicts, settlers and marines to Van Diemen's Land (Tasmania). In 1815, 1817 & 1823 the 'Ocean' transported convicts to New South Wales.

Norfolk Assizes Francis Suckling and William Smith, for pig stealing; Cambridge Chronicle, 19 Aug 1814. ---------------------------------------------------- Tuesday last, were conveyed from the Castle to the Hulks, the following convicts, who were sentenced to seven years' transportation at the last Assizes: Francis Suckling, Norris Syder, Wm. Syder, and Wm. Smith, for pig stealing; and John Stubbard for House breaking. Norfolk Chronicle, 8 Oct 1814.

WHEREAS, my Wife, Jane Sutland, (Free) has absconded from her home on Saturday last, without any just cause or provocation, and having reason to suppose that she is obtaining Credit from Publicans and others, expecting that I will pay the same; I hereby caution all Persons not to give her Credit, being determined not to pay any Debts she may Contract.
