Michael Harnett. Maurice Lane, Denis Haly, Denis Barrett Cornelius Sullivan, Michael Shanahan, Michael Courteney, John Fitzgerald, and Michael Connell, all desperate night walkers and profligate fellows, were presented by the Grand Jury, as Vagrants. The High Constables and Peace Officers, detailed minutely the haunts and dissolute mode of life practiced by the prisoners; the majority whom had no mode of obtaining livelihood but by robbing. The Jury found for the presentment against all with the exception of Lane and Barrett, whose friends interfered for them, and in the hope of their being reclaimed their case was looked on favourably. They were all sentenced to be transported for seven years, unless they can procure sureties in the sum of £5 for their future good conduct. Cork Constitution, 30 August 1827.

He was convicted of vagrancy at Cork on 21 August 1827. He was sentenced to 7 years and had no prior convictions. Physical attributes: Height 5 feet 1 1/2 inches; complexion ruddy and freckled; hair brown and eyes grey. Transport number 13. Certification of Freedom No. 34/1052. Assigned to Peter Martini, Fields of Mars.
