William Supple was convicted for receiving a stolen handkerchief Middlesex, London on 05/07/1832. 7yr sentence. Transported to Van Diemen's Land (Tasmania) on the 'Atlas', arriving 1833. Ship Surgeon's Report indifferent Single man; b. abt 1813 Middlesex; 5'7"; aged 20yrs; fresh complexion; dk brown hair; grey eyes. Assignments in Colony. Several records of misconduct and punishments. Marriage to Ellen McCarthy (proper name Sarah Wilson) 31/03/1840 Hobart ref. 582/1840-37. Birth registrations: Supple Sophia b. 18/06/1841 Hobart 353/1841-33 Supple Ellen b. 12/12/1842 Hobart 1183/1842-33 Baptism registrations: Supple Ophelia 06/02/1845 Hobart 2536/1845-32 Supple Robert William 06/02/1845 Hobart 2535/1845-32 Record of a departure from George Town, Tasmania to Port Phillip, Victoria on the ship 'Scout' 16/08/1844 as a passenger. He is my 3x Great Grandfather. Married Ellen McCarthy, also transported for Larceny. Raised their family in Kapunda South Australia where he built, owned and ran his Commercial Hotel. He died at the age of 49. His wife remarried. contact heff15@bigpond.com
