William was 42 years old on arrival, he had been sent to Norfolk Island and then returned to VDL. William was 5'4 1/2" tall, dark sallow complexion, dark brown hair, black whiskers, hazel eyes, long scar on left knee, large scar on right arm, can read, protestant, married with 8 children. Very clean conduct record, only 1 listing for which he was admonished. 4/12/1849: TOL 2/9/1850: CP 16/11/1851: Passenger Launceston to Melbourne per 'Shamrock' - Listed as "Swanston".




Born in Hindley, Lancashire, England. Died at the age of 74 in Wigan, Lancashire, England. Married Ann Foster 17th June 1821 and was later convicted of her manslaughter. Daughter, Mary Ann Swanton born 1829.
