Mary Sweenie, 15 yrs, single, can read, a sewer, convicted of theft, habit repute, sentenced to 7 yrs at Glasgow on the 15 Feb 1848, once previously convicted of theft, has been 13 times in prison. Prison Registers and Statistical Returns - page 184 1843-1850 HO 24/12

Mary Sweenie and Margaret M’Laren were charged with theft, aggravated by being habit and repute thieves, and previously convicted, in so far as on the 9th September last, they stole from the pocket or person of Margaret Stirling or M'Luskie, when in a shop in High Street, three £1 bank-notes, a shilling, and some coppers. They pleaded not guilty. After trial they were found guilty, and sentenced to seven years transportation. Glasgow Courier, 23 Dec 1847.
