19/2/1812: John arrived in VDL per 'Ruby' - he was given a land grant at Blackbrush, Bagdad. From www.marks-family.co.uk John was born in 1763 and baptised 29/5/1763 in Rusper, Sussex - but from Slinfold. Father: Richard born 1733 - Mother: Amy - no further information on her. 7 children, Martha, Sarah, Richard, Mary, Jinny, John** James. http://www.hurleyskidmorehistory.com.au The whole family story of Elizabeth is listed there.
John had 7 (or 8) children born in Tasmania 1820-1839. The mother was Elizabeth Frisby alias Glithero according to her convict records, however I suspect it should have been Glithero alias Frisby! They didn't marry until 1858, when according to their marriage certificate he was 93 and she was 65! John was convicted in Surrey in 1810 but his birthplace is unknown, it may have been in Rusper, Sussex. Any help in discovring his birthplace would be appreciated. I am a descendant of his yougest daughter Eliza.
