Edmund was the child of John Tew and Elizabeth Ward. He was christened on the 21st of Feb 1813, Leire, Leicestershire. He was only 16 years of age when sent to Port Arthur, After his ticket of leave dated 13 July 1836 we lose all trace of him. Leicestershire Chronicle Saturday 18 July 1829 Edmund Tew, is also pleaded guilty to an indictment charging him with stealing a loaf of bread, some cheese and beer, from the dwelling house of John Boot at Leicester. The prisoner receiving a bad character was penitence to be transported for 7 years. The prisoner heard his sentence with the most perfect indifference.
