At Bury General Quarter Sessions, which commenced on Monday week, the following prisoners took their trial: —Richard Thake, for stealing a large hunch of keys from the shop of Leonard Albon, of Haverhill; convicted also of Stealing flour; 14 years transportation. Suffolk Chronicle, 21 July 1830.

Richard Thake (my 3rd-great-grandfather) was born at Haverhill, Suffolk in 1804. He married Charlotte Wright in 1824; they had two children before his conviction and two more after his return in 1844 (Charlotte in the meantime had six more children by two different fathers). Richard died about 1851.

On Tuesday morning, William Timothy Willis, Thos. Wiffin, and Richard Thake, were convicted of stealing 11 bushels of flour from the mill of Mr. James Guy, of Haverhill, and sentenced to be transported for 7 years. Ipswich Journal, 24 July 1830. On Wednesday last William Timothy Willis, Thomas Wiffin, Richard Thake, John Bigsby, Frederick Webb, Isaac Potter, and William Townsend, severally convicted of larcenies at the last County Sessions, were removed from our Gaol to the Leviathan hulk at Portsmouth, in order to be transported for 7 years; Bury and Norwich Post, 18 Aug 1830
