Convict Notes
Norfolk Assizes. Sentence of death was then passed the eleven capital convicts, viz. John Webb, for stealing in dwelling house; Wm. Waters, Thomas Dawson, John Steel, and Joseph Moore, for sheep stealing ; Robt. Buxton, for cow stealing ; Benjamin Amis, for stealing a heifer; Thomas Poole and Samuel Archer, for horse stealing ; Robert Sharman, for burglary and Ann Howard, for arson. With respect to the first ten, his Lordship said, he should not leave any of them for execution : he should look into their cases, and recommend such punishments as their crimes merited. Norfolk Chronicle, 21 Aug 1819. The following convicts were lately removed from the from the Castle to Portsmouth, viz. John Wilson, Samuel Riches, Thomas Poole, Benj. Amis, Robert Sharman, Wm. Waters, Thomas Dawson, and John Steele, for their respective terms transportation. Norfolk Chronicle, 9 Oct 1819.
