Convict Notes
BERKSHIRE ASSIZES Thomas Ayres, aged 20, and Thomas Mills, aged 30, charged with burglariously breaking and entering a dwelling-house at Sulhamstead Abbotts, and stealing two pair  of new leather shoes, three pair of worsted stockings, a pair of corduroy breeches, and silver  and copper to the amount of 27£. Death. Morning Post, 22 July 1818.
The four capital convicts, James Hodges and Richard Whiteman, tor horse stealing; and Thomas Mills and Thomas Ayres, for housebreaking, left for execution, at Reading, were expected to have undergone the awful sentence of the law, on Saturday. A large concourse of people were in consequence assembled; but the unfortunate were respited—the two former during pleasure, the latter for ? days only Weekly Dispatch, 9 Aug 1818. Thomas Ayres was hanged on 10th August 1818 at Reading. Thomas Mills appears to have ben further respited.
