1868, 19 October: Thomas MURPHY per Java 1833, robbery, 7 years, is on a list of so-called "British Lunatics" in the "Parramatta Lunatic Asylum" (see New South Wales, Australia, Convict Records, 1810-1891).
NATIVE PLACE: Limerick RELIGION: Catholic TRIED: 4 April 1833 OFFENCE: Robbing stables; previous conviction and sentence of three months REMARKS: Lunatic (see Irish Convicts to NSW at http://members.pcug.org.au/) He died in the Hospital for the Insane, at Newcastle, on 30 March 1884, according to a document from the Police Department NSW, Convict Branch, dated 2 February 1885, and signed by the Inspector General of Police. No cause of death, or date or location of his burial are provided (see New South Wales, Australia, Convict Records, 1810-1891; Convicts Deaths, Annual Returns of Convicts Who Died, 1867-1891).
