1812 - On the 3rd October, Thomas WHEELER, prisoner for 14 years, was charged with "passing a forged copper coin", before the Bench of Magistrates in Sydney. He was "discharged by the Court for want of sufficient proof". (Source: SRNSW Bench of Magistrates Cases - SZ773; Reel 658) 1820 to 1821 - Thomas WHEELER held a licence as a baker, in George St. Sydney (Source: Bigge's Appendix, Bonwick Transcripts, BT Box 24, 52707 - Mitchell Library) 26 Feb. 1824 - Thomas WHEELER, per ship "Admiral Gambier" 1811, Tried London GD on 21 Feb. 1810, 14 year sentence, Native of London, Calico glazer, aged 52, 5 feet 7 inches tall, Ruddy complexion, Dark brown hair & hazel eyes, Certificate of Freedom received 26 Feb. 1824. Thomas Wheeler married Jane Perry on 29 September 1795 at St Sepulchre, Holborn. There were 5 children born of this marriage, only two of whom survived to adulthood, Daniel born 7 July 1796 and baptised at St Botolph Aldersgate and Maria Jane born 5 November 1799 and baptised at St Bartholomew the Great. The evidence that Jane Perry, not Jane Hall, was Thomas Wheeler's wife is confirmed by the reference to Jane in the 1828 census as 'alias Parry'
Thomas wheeler was indicted for receiving stolen clothing and other items, knowing them to be stolen. He was 37 years old and in 1809 had married Jane Hall. They had a daughter Maria 14 and a son Daniel 18 who arrived free per the Broxbornbury in 1814. Daniel became a seaman and was drowned on the 25/6/1816 when the schooner Brothers was wrecked in Bass Strait. Jane his wife died in 1836 aged 60. 31/1/1818: CP In 1822 he was listed as living with Sophia Langord (Surprize 1794) she died in 1825, at this time he was working as a baker in Sydney. 26/2/1824: COF 1828; Age 56 Thomas was employed by James Morris as a Baker. 7/7/1845: Died at the age of 74 at McDonald River.
