HO-9-8-3 page 16/51. Hulk records at Portsmouth show that on 15 Jan 1807, 11 convicts arrived from Dublin, whose names are given, but with no further information. The same day these 11 men were embarked on board the Duke of Wellington. “Received eleven from Dublin 15 Jan 1807. Bartholomew Biglane Archibald Biglane Jas Kinsey John Kinsey Patrick Hart Patrick Harrydon Patrick Flynn Michael Grant Wm Cortellon Connell Jas Ferguson George Thomas All Sent on board the Duke of Portland, 15 Jan 1807.”

Threshers.— On the 22d cf December, before a Special Commission at Cavan, Francis Donohoe was indicted for feloniously administering an oath to one George Thomas— that he, the said G. Thomas would not take his tithe from a proctor, nor discover, nor give evidence, of a certain association or brotherhood, called Threshers, a brother Threshers — To this charge the prisoner pleaded not guilty, and, in support of which, the prosecutor being detected in a perjury, Donohoe was acquitted, and Thomas put to the bar, when the perjury being fully proved, he was found guilty, sentenced to be put in the pillory, and after and afterwards transported for seven years. But, at the request of the Attorney General, that part of the sentence respecting the pillory was rescinded, and he was instantly sent off out of the Dock for Dublin, to be put on board a vessel which was on the point of sailing. Lancaster Gazette, 10 Jan 1807 Extract of a letter from Cavan dated December 23 - Yesterday the Special Commission opened in this town - Francis Donohoo was twice arraigned; first for administering and afterwards for tendering an illegal oath, but acquitted of both the charges - (George) Thomas, the witness for the Crown, was in consequence off his gross prevarication, committed, tried, and convicted of perjury; and sentenced to transportation for life. Such was the result of the Commission in this county, and it will no doubt afford you much satisfaction as it did the Court and Gentry of this place, to find how truly insignificant the insurrection of the Threshers has been, though so much exaggerated by the different accounts circulated in Dublin' - Finn's Leinster Journal, 31 December 1806.
