AA.a Sarah (Thomas) had a relationship with Benjamin (Stewart). Benjamin (Stewart) may have been a seaman or soldier on SPEEDY. Sarah (Thomas) & Benjamin (Stewart) produced 1child: 1.Rose (Stewart) was born on 23 12 1800 & baptised on 4 3 1801 at St Phillips CofE Sydney. Josiah Emery (Cooper) was a wheelwright who was tried at Leicester Assizes, sentenced to 7years & arrived in NSW as a convict on 30 5 1792 after a voyage of 4+months on Fleet ship ROYAL ADMIRAL also; he was 5.73' tall. He enlisted in NSW Corps on 14 5 1794 in Sydney as a private. In 1798 he was detached to (Abbott)s company, with which he was sent to Norfolk Island in 1801. In 1804 he was returned with (Abbott)s company to Parramatta, followed by service at Hawkesbury from 1808. In 1809 he was detached to 1Company & on 24 4 1810 to 73rd Regiment. Old Bailey Proceedings Online (www.oldbaileyonline.org, version 8.0, 18 August 2022), June 1799, trial of SARAH THOMAS (t17990619-49). SARAH THOMAS, Theft > grand larceny, 19th June 1799. 366. SARAH THOMAS was indicted for feloniously stealing, on the 5th of June , a cotton gown, value 4s. 6d. the property of Margaret Macarthy , spinster . MARGARET MACARTHY sworn. - I am a single woman, and live at No.36, Little Pulteney-street : The prisoner took a gown out of my room, I was told by a person of it; I saw it the same day, in the morning, I sleep in the room, it was about eleven o'clock at noon, I missed it soon after; she is not a lodger in the same house. EVAN THOMAS sworn. - I am the house-keeper: I saw the girl come into the house, and go up stairs, about eleven o'clock, on the 5th of June; I did not know her, but I followed her up, and just as I got to the top of the stairs, I saw her standing at the door with a gown in her hand, and she knocked at the next door, and asked for a different name; upon which I apprehended her. ( William Jackson produced the gown, which was deposed to by the prosecutrix.) Prisoner's defence. I am innocent of the charge, I know nothing of it. GUILTY (Aged 15.) Transported for seven years . Tried by the second Middlesex Jury, before Mr. Justice HEATH.
