FIRST TRANSPORTATION - CON23-1-3/CON23-1-3-P148 No; 301 & 369? Aged; 41 years old Trade; Horse Dealer Trial; 19 Feb 1823 Native Place; Hertford C. F. 19 February 1830 1823 - THE PROCEEDINGS OF THE OLD BAILEY Before Mr. Justice Park. 411. JOHN BAKER and WILLIAM THOMAS were indicted for stealing, on the 6th of December , forty guineas; one 10 l., forty-seven 5 l.; and eight 1 l., promissory notes; forty 5 l., and three hundred and twentyeight 1 l., Bank notes , the property of Thomas Sparkes , and others his partners, SECOND COUNT, stating them to be the property of Augustus Robert Hankey and others his partners............... THOMAS - GUILTY . Aged 38. Transported for Seven Years . BAKER - NOT GUILTY .

Transported for Stealing Boots Gaol Report; 2nd sentence. Convicted 1823. 7 years. for Stealing a parcel Served in New South Wales. Came here in the Lady East as William Thomas. Served 7 years in the Colony. Was the coachman to the present Gov Col Arthur. Real Name; Jno. Thomas Status; Married - 2 children. Wife died before he was in trouble
