Agnes THOMPSON was convicted at Lancaster, England on 11 April 1842 for larceny - stealing clothes. Previous offences. 7 yr transportation sentence. Sent to Van Diemen's Land (Tasmania) per the ship 'Garland Grove' arriving 2 July 1843. Ship Surgeon's Report: "good". Single woman; aged 23 yrs; 4'9 1/2" height; Roman Catholic; can read. Native place: Manchester, England. Brother: John Sisters: Mary, Margaret & Ann (at native place) Colony of VDL: Work services. Several notes of misconduct. Sentence extended by 12 mths. 31 March 1845: Application for permission to marry - to Thomas MORGAN (free or free by servitude) (ref. 52/1/2 pg 125) 29 April 1845: Marriage - Agnes THOMPSON, full age to Thomas MORGAN, full age, farmer - according to the rites of the Roman Catholic Church, St. Joseph's, Hobart.
