In 1799 Bishop was involved in the murder of two Indigenous children named Little George and Little Jemmy.

On Wednesday last were fully committed to the City Gaol, by C. Weston, jun. Esq. Mayor, Bishop Tompson and Charles Barwick, charged with stealing five spotted silk handkerchiefs, the property of Ann and Margaret Serjeant, in St. Andrew's. Norfolk Chronicle, 14 Nov 1789. Bishop Thompson and Charles Barwick, for stealing five spotted silk handkerchiefs, were capitally convicted, and received sentence of death; but were afterwards reprieved. Stamford Mercury, 6 Aug 1790. On Saturday Bishop Thompson and Charles Barwick, the former 14, the latter ? years of age, were committed to Bridewell for further examination, by Charles Weston, Esq Bury and Norwich Post, 11 Nov 1789.
