Sent to Van Diemen's Land (Tasmania) per the 'Lady Montagu' arriving 9 Dec 1852. Single man; aged 21 yrs; labourer; 5'4 1/4" height; fresh complexion; black hair; dark eyes; Roman Catholic; can read & write. Native place of birth: Birmingham, England. (ref. convict record) Father: Peter (ref: convict indent record) Mother: Ann Brothers: Hugh, John & Peter Sisters: Catherine, Ellen, Margaret & .... VDL: Assigned to work service. Passholder upon arrival (later in the Convict system this was granted to approved prisoners). 1852: Prison Barracks 1852: Huon River district 11 Oct 1853: Ticket of Leave granted.
