Glasgow Circuit Court. Samuel Thomson was next brought up, and charged with tittering some forged bank-notes on the Royal Bank of Scotland, and on the Glasgow Bank, knowing the same to be forged. The prisoner pleaded Guilty, and the Public  Prosecutor having restricted the libel to an arbitrary punishment, he was addressed from the Bench on the great hazard to which he had exposed his life, which must have been forfeited for this offence, had it not been for the leniency of the Depute Advocate -a leniency, however, which he had uniformly seen him to exercise with great prudence and discrimination. The prisoner was then sentenced to 14 years transportation.   Glasgow Herald, 28 April 1826.
