William Thompson was convicted of poisoning his own horse. He married 16 May 1842 in St David's Hobart a convict Catherine Ragan a widow. He had already fathered a child Nathaniel (named after his grandfather) in 1840 and later had a daughter Sarah Ann. Catherine left him and went to Victoria where she died. William appears to have died in Tasmania.
