Circuit Intelligence. Alexander Thomson accused of theft.. This prisoner was stated to have entered a house in Inverary, asking for accommodation for the night; having been shewn into a room for that purpose, contrived to abstract from a locked chest of drawers upwards of £3 in money, and various articles of considerable value; and after possessing himself of these, by feigning himself sick, went out under pretence of taking the air, and then made off. The Jury were inclosed, and returned a written verdict finding, by a plurality of voices, the pannel Guilty, and he was sentenced to transportation for seven years. Caledonian Mercury, 28 Sep 1818.
