On Thursday arrived from Calcutta, via Derwent, the ship Mary, Captain Ormon, with a various cargo. -Passengers from Calcutta, Captain Faithfull and Lieutenant Hamilton:-The Mary sailed from Calcutta the 23d of February, and left the Pilot the 1st of March. Thorpe pleaded guilty to an indictment for stealing slop from Wm. Salter. Thorpe was also indicted for stealing in the dwellinghouse of Francis Kirk, Kirton, labourer, was sentenced to 7 years’ transportation. There was further indictment against the prisoner for stealing the dwelling-house of Robert Browne, of Foxhall. Suffolk Chronicle, 5 May 1821. Saturday sennight the following convicts, under sentence of transportation, were removed from the County Gaol, Ipswich, and put onboard the Leviathan Hulk, at Portsmouth: — John Lovett, John Freeman, and John Butcher, for life; and James Baldwin, Benj. Nunn, Charles Thorpe, John Edgin, Thomas Germany, and John Palmer, for 7 years Bury and Norwich Post, 30 May 1821.




9/5/1821 Bury and Norwich Post Suffolk, England: Charles Thorpe pleaded guilty of stealing wearing apparel from the dwelling-house of Francis Kirk, and was sentenced to 7 years' transportation. Charles Thorpe was 39 years old when convicted. Sick list of the Mary 1821/22: Charles Thorpe, convict, taken ill at sea; sick or hurt, complains of much pain in the head, pulse full and frequent and skin hot; put on sick list 27 October 1821, discharged 14 November 1821.
