Reuben Thouless was listed as 16 years old on arrival. Brothers: Benjamin, John. Sister: Susan. Reuben was son of Benjamin THOULESS and Susannah CHAPMAN. Baptism on 17 July 1825 at St John Lakenham, Norfolk. He was in 1841 census at Fullers Hole St Martin at Oak, Norwich. "Reuben Thouless, a lad of 15, was charged with stealing a market basket, containing 21 half-pints of butter, the property of Jeremiah Abel, of Ring Road. The case against the prisoner was clearly made out. The young urchin put several adroit questions to some of the witnesses, and apparently with great confidence. He was found guilty, and a former conviction proved against him. His history in crime, according to the gaoler`s books was, that he had twice before been tried, nine times in custody, and six times charged with felony. He was sentenced to seven years` transportation". (Previous convictions found included: in 1842 acquitted on larceny charge 1842 sentenced 1 month jail for larceny)
