Maria was convicted for receiving a stolen ribbon. She disappeared without trace after leaving Tasmania for Melbourne in 1847. Maria left a husband and 2 young children in England when she was transported. She eventually married another convict William Riley in Tasmania, abandoning him and her young son in 1847.
